The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) was founded after President Bush's 2002 State of the Union Address following the 9/11 terrorist attack in NYC in which he asked all Americans to volunteer in support of their country. The Medical Reserve Corps plays a key role in disaster preparedness. The MRC allows for medical and non-medical volunteers to be ready to offer their expertise in an organized manner in the case of a large-scale emergency.
The MRC is a specialized component of the Citizens Corps , a national network of volunteers dedicated to ensuring hometown security. Citizens Corps, along with the Corporation for National and Community Service and the Peace Corps are all part of the President's USA Freedom Corps , which promotes volunteerism and service throughout the nation.
You can help build one of the strongest networks of volunteerism in the nation. Medical and non-medical people are strongly encouraged to join the ERMRC, your time and participation are greatly appreciated.
